Alls Fair Season 2 Premiere: Glenn Close Shares Red Carpet With Impersonator
At the New York premiere of Hulu's All's Fair Season 2, Glenn Close appeared alongside performance artist Alexis Stone, who was dressed as her. Kim Kardashian's corset gown also drew attention.
Actor Glenn Close found herself face to face with a near-identical double at the New York City premiere of "All's Fair" Season 2 on Monday night, as the trending search "alls fair" drew attention to the Hulu legal drama. Performance and makeup artist Alexis Stone, a professional impersonator, attended the event dressed as Close, and the two were photographed side by side. The second season of the Ryan Murphy series premieres on Hulu on November 4.
A double take on the red carpet
Stone, who is about six feet tall, was dwarfed by his uncanny counterpart in the eyes of many observers, according to CNN's "Look of the Week" feature. The two wore near-identical custom looks inspired by the Matières Fécales brand's September runway collection. Close wore a coat dress made from Burkina Faso fabric, while Stone wore the matching blazer and skirt.
Both had the same icy-white bob, matching blush placement, lip shade and a similar pinched expression for the camera. Stone said the stunt was commissioned by the show's director, Ryan Murphy. He is not part of the "All's Fair" cast.
Stone described the experience as "quite an out-of-body experience." He said Close was the one reassuring him, not the other way round. It was the first time he had met someone he was impersonating in person.
Impersonator's growing profile
Stone has built a following online for full-body transformations. He first drew wide attention in 2022, when designer Demna, then creative director at Balenciaga, seated him front row at a Paris show dressed as Mrs. Doubtfire. Stone has since appeared at several fashion shows, including a Matières Fécales runway in Paris in March, where he walked as a model.
According to CNN, the budget for his lifelike prosthetics and makeup can reach six figures, a cost comparable to a traditional TV costume department. He has said Close is one of more than 20 characters he has recreated, and that he keeps some of each in his personality.
Kardashian's 500-hour gown
Co-star Kim Kardashian also drew attention at the premiere. She wore a gray strapless gown by Ashi Studio with a structured corset bodice, sheer panels, cords wrapping her arms and a matching leather collar. The label said the piece took more than 500 hours to make, with work done at its Paris atelier. Kardashian's stylist, Law Roach, has been dressing her throughout the season's press tour.
Kardashian attended the premiere with co-stars Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts and Glenn Close. Photos from the event were published by WWD and other outlets.
