A slow-moving weather front is pushing rain across the eastern and southeastern United States, with flood risks and a chance of severe storms in parts of the Southeast, according to a forecast from Univision meteorologist Javier Serrano. Interest in "clima" has surged as residents check conditions for the days ahead.

Storms and flood risk in the Southeast

Serrano said the front is moving east and southeast, bringing rain to those regions. Isolated totals of 1 to 2 inches are possible in parts of the Southeast from Georgia northward, and a marginal flood risk exists in some areas.

Severe weather is also possible between the two states, mainly in the afternoon. Forecasts cited small hail, winds of 58 to 60 miles per hour and a possible tornado as strong storms pass through.

In Florida, drier air is expected to improve conditions from Friday, according to the forecast. Heavy rain could still cause urban flooding on Wednesday, and flooding has already been reported in Broward County.

Northeast rain and temperature changes

The front is expected to move northeast toward New York, bringing rain to the region. Serrano said a small change in temperatures is expected as the front passes on Thursday, with highs in the 70s in the Northeast.

Rainfall is forecast to increase in the Northeast from Thursday into Friday, which is the most significant change in the outlook. Local forecasts for New York City and Syracuse for Thursday, 5 November, were also published by regional outlets.

Texas and California

In Texas, little change is expected in the weather or temperatures. Daytime highs could reach the upper 70s, with about 84 degrees forecast in Brownsville. California is expected to see fair weather with few changes.

What we know so far

The front is the main driver of rain and storm risk across the eastern half of the country this week. Forecasters expect wetter weather in the Northeast on Thursday and Friday, while Florida and Texas see gradual improvement or little change. Residents in flood-prone and storm-affected areas should monitor local National Weather Service updates for warnings.
