UAE October fuel prices rise: Super 98 reaches Dh4.40 a litre
The October fuel rates took effect on 1 October. A 50-litre Super 98 refill now costs Dh220, Dh30 more than in September.
The UAE’s October petrol and diesel prices are now in effect, raising the cost of filling up across all four fuel grades. Super 98 costs Dh4.40 a litre, Special 95 Dh4.28, E-Plus 91 Dh4.21 and diesel Dh4.80. The rates were announced on 30 September and took effect on 1 October, according to Gulf News and Khaleej Times.
What changed this month?
- Super 98 rose by Dh0.60 a litre from September’s Dh3.80.
- Special 95 rose by Dh0.59 from Dh3.69.
- E-Plus 91 rose by Dh0.60 from Dh3.61.
- Diesel rose by Dh0.50 from Dh4.30.
These are October rates rather than an announcement of another increase on 3 October. The distinction matters for readers checking a price notice shared several days after its release.
How much does a refill cost?
Using the published per-litre rates, a 50-litre Super 98 purchase costs Dh220, compared with Dh190 in September. The same quantity of Special 95 costs Dh214 instead of Dh184.50, while E-Plus 91 costs Dh210.50 instead of Dh180.50. Fifty litres of diesel costs Dh240, up from Dh215. These comparisons are Chopal Unfiltered’s calculations; they assume an identical quantity bought in each month.
A driver’s actual monthly increase depends on the fuel grade and litres purchased. Someone buying 100 litres of Special 95 over a month, for example, would spend Dh59 more than at September’s rate. That example describes a fixed-volume comparison, rather than an estimate of the average household’s spending.
Analysis: a recurring cost to track
For residents who drive regularly, the useful budgeting measure is the additional cost per litre multiplied by their own consumption. That gives a more practical comparison than treating the price of a full tank as the same for every vehicle.
The change is also relevant to Indian readers living or working in the UAE, including those balancing local expenses with remittances. It does not establish that taxi fares, delivery charges or other prices have automatically changed: those would require separate announcements and verification.
Gulf News reports that the Fuel Price Committee reviews retail rates monthly against global energy-market trends. The next monthly announcement is therefore the development to watch. This report does not predict November’s prices or attribute the October increase to a single event.
